Paid Training Program for Immigrant Professionals

The African Bridge Network (ABN) is accepting applications for its 2024 Immigrant Professionals Fellowship. This program is open for Massachusetts residents with U.S. work authorization. The Immigrant Professionals Fellowship seeks to place talented, diverse, and multilingual immigrant professionals in a paid fellowship with financial, healthcare, or research employers. Through training and a 3-month fellowship, participants will gain the needed work experience to access jobs in their industry and advance their careers following the fellowship.

An information session will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 12 pm - 1:15 pm. Interested individuals can register here. The application deadline is Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Start a Career in Building Maintenance

The Building Energy Efficient Maintenance Skills (BEEMS) Program is a FREE 17-week program that trains participants for a career as a maintenance technician/engineer. This hands-on course teaches the fundamentals of carpentry, plumbing, painting, electricity, and job skills needed to succeed. This course includes a “green” curriculum on energy efficiency and weatherization. Classes are held at our Innovation Center in the early evenings twice a week. Free Training for Science and Technology Careers

Just-A-Start's Biomedical (BIO) and Information Technology (IT) Careers programs train adults for sustainable life sciences or information technology careers with a pipeline to local, high-demand employment opportunities. These programs provide education and training on workforce skills aligned with industry needs, the development of soft skills that are crucial to employers, and support services that address barriers to education, employment, and career advancement.

Each nine-month, tuition-free program includes classroom instruction accompanied by hands-on learning as well as career development training, networking opportunities with professionals and employers, and ongoing job search and
Alumni Services support. Program participants are able to earn college credits. Both programs are offered in English. Learn more here.

Attend College on Your Terms!

Duet is a college coaching nonprofit in Boston that partners closely with Southern New Hampshire University (SHNU) to provide a faster, more flexible, and more affordable way to get a college degree. At SNHU with Duet, students complete projects on their schedule. It’s a unique college model built specifically for working adults, people with kids (and/or caretakers), or those who have other priorities in their lives. It’s also the lowest-cost college option in New England, just $2,332 a term, and you can use federal financial aid to pay for it if you qualify. Duet's team of professional coaches assist students 1:1, supporting them every step of the way from getting enrolled and financed to moving through the coursework and building a resume. Project Opportunity Spring Resource Fair and Cori Legal Clinic

The Office of Black Male Advancement is hosting a Project Opportunity Spring Resource Fair and Cori Legal Clinic at the Bruce Bolling Building (2300 Washington St, Boston, MA 02119) on Saturday, April 27, 2024, 10 am - 1 pm. There will be:

  • CORI Services: Get direct help with CORI questions from experts on-site including Harvard Legal Services Center, Greater Boston Legal Services, New England School of Law, and Lawyers Clearinghouse.
  • Job and Training: Looking for work or training? Teams from MassHire Downtown Boston, NECAT, Building Pathways, PowerCorps, Charlestown Adult Education, and more will be there to help you.
  • Resources: Find support from Family Nurturing, Justice 4 Housing, Lives are Meant to Be Changed, Father Friendly Initiative, Blue Collar Academy, Family Movement, Torchlight Recovery, Office of Recovery Services, Whittier Street Health Center, Duet, Center for Working Families, Boston Public Health Commission, the Mayor’s Office of Returning Citizens and many others.
